Melissa Barclay ARNP
Bachelor of Science - University of Idaho Master of Science - Simmons University
Melissa believes that every patient has a unique story and to properly care for each patient the provider needs to know the journey the patient has been on. She takes pride in engaging with her patients to become a partner in their healing. This partnership is based on collaboration in all phases of care. Her approach to this relationship begins by discussing and diligently planning the immediate and long-term care objectives for each patient. She educates her patients early in the care relationship on best in field treatments/interventions that allow this team approach to achieve the highest possible quality of life goals for each patients individual journey.
At its foundation, pain affects the whole body, not just the body part experiencing pain. This is a primary viewpoint and guides her when developing a plan of care. She makes sure that each patients customized care plan takes into account their current concerns, medical history, philosophical approach to short-term and long-term care, so that it is tailor made to achieve the patients desired outcome.
Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Melissa worked as a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting with experience in adult cardiac nursing, pediatrics, neonatal intensive care, and surgery.
She graduated from Simmons University with a Master’s Degree in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner focus and since that time she has worked exclusively in the pain management field.
In addition to traditional education, she has completed training in Substance Use Disorder treatment and has extensive experience utilizing medications such as buprenorphine and Suboxone.
